Overview

DIY Project/Gadget Kit for ONU/Router UPS

  • Keeps your ONU or router running through short power cuts
  • Rechargeable lithium polymer battery pack
  • Battery management board (BMS) to protect the cell
  • 0-100% battery level indicator
  • Adjustable booster module to match your device's voltage
  • DC jacks (male and female) for clean, swappable connections
  • Case included, so the build is tidy and safe to keep on a shelf

Tools needed

  • Soldering iron and solder
  • Multimeter
  • Wire cutter and stripper
  • Hot glue gun or double-sided tape

Build guide

  1. 1

    Check the parts match

Read each part's voltage and current before you start. The cell, the charger and the BMS must all agree on the number of cells and the charging voltage. Ask the AI to check compatibility if unsure; it is help, not a guarantee.

  2. 2

Wire the battery to the BMS

Connect the battery pack to the BMS board following its markings. Double-check polarity with the multimeter before soldering.

  3. 3

    Add the charging path

Connect the AC cord side to the charger circuit, and its output to the BMS charge input. Keep mains wiring insulated and away from the low-voltage side.

  4. 4

    Set up the booster

Connect the BMS output to the booster module input. With nothing else attached, turn the trimmer until the multimeter shows the voltage your ONU or router needs. Never guess this value.

  5. 5

Fit the indicator and the jacks

Wire the level indicator across the battery, and the DC jacks to the booster output so you can plug the router in and out.

  6. 6

    Close it up and test

Fix everything inside the case, plug in the router, then switch the mains off and on to check that it keeps running through the cut.
